He was born Feb. 8, 1948 Lester and Rosella Reid in Eugene. He graduated from Elmira High School and attended the University of Oregon. He had a long career in the banking industry, many years of which were in bank management. He married Judy Weigman on Nov. 9, 1967 in Eugene. He enjoyed fishing and classic cars. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Reid of Waldport; daughter, Wendy Steele of Portland; son, James Reid Jr. of San Martin, Argentina; mother, Erline Reid of Junction City; brothers, Larry Reid of Keokuc, Iowa and Don Reid of Noti; sister, Sandra Morris of Junction City; and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local food bank. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is handling arrangements.
