She was born Aug. 11, 1928 to William E. Atchison and Venus Z. Thompson Atchison of Arkansas City, Kan. She graduated from Wichita High School and attended journalism courses at Oregon State University School of Journalism. She was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker for many years. She married Eldon June Van Fossan on Aug. 17, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2002. She also served at her husband's side as pastor's wife from 1958 to 1990 in Winters, Calif., San Diego, Seattle and Toledo, Ore. She was the library director for Toledo Public Library from 1966 to 1968. She enjoyed writing and publishing poems, song lyrics, human-interest stories and religious articles. She also enjoyed photography, writing, reading and music. She was a member of Toledo Baptist Church and Clackamas Bible Church in Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon June Van Fossan; parents, William and Venus Atchison; brothers, Hayden Atchison and Richard Atchison; and sister, Judith Ann Atchison Eichleberry. She is survived by her son Paul (Maggie) Van Fossan; daughter, Kathryn (Delbert G. Paeske) J. Van Fossan Paeske; grandchildren, Thomas A. Hansen of Camas, Wash., Gretchen (Troy Mucken) Van Fossan Mucken and Rebecca (Kevin M. Lewis) S. Van Fossan Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Emily, Joshua, Jacob and Abigail. .
