She was born Nov. 8, 1915 to Sam and Hannah Anderson in Seattle, Wash. Following graduation from the University of Washington, she married Roy Peterson in Everett, Wash. During World War II, Evelyn lived in California while Roy was in the Army. They later moved back to Everett, where they raised their three children. Evelyn and Roy lived in New Jersey for five years. During that time, she loved to learn about the colonial history of the area. When Roy passed away, Evelyn returned to the Northwest. She lived in Long Beach, Wash. for 20 years before eventually moving to Waldport in 1999. Evelyn was an active woman. She belonged to the P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) sisterhood since 1960, was active in the Presbyterian Church, and was a past member of AAUW (American Association of University Women). She enjoyed crafts, especially creating beautiful cross-stitch projects. Evelyn did a lot of traveling. Even when her health limited her, she still looked forward to day trips to different places with her daughter, Marilyn. She was a kind, smart and elegant lady who lived 97 happy years with no regrets. She will be missed by many friends and her family. She is survived by her three children, Jerry (Faith) Peterson of Colorado, Randy (Mercedes) Peterson of Washington and Marilyn (John) McClintock of Waldport; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Waldport Community Presbyterian Church. She will be interred with her husband, Roy, at Evergreen Cemetery in Everett. Bateman Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
