He passed away on Nov. 27, 2012. He moved to Taft with the Knoles family in 1955, and worked in the family restaurant The Chatter Box. He graduated from Taft High School and served his country in Vietnam. After the service, he landed back on the coast where he worked in various restaurants: Pixie Kitchen, Just Howie's, Surftides Over the Waves and Oceanlake Elks. Jimmy and Rodney opened up their own restaurant, Key Largo Fish-n-Chips in Oceanlake. La Velle joined the boys at the lake house, where they loved to cook and entertain friends and family, and continued to do so as they moved around the country. Jimmy is survived by his life partner, Rodney Williamson; his cousin, Paula Knoles of Otis; and many many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Oceanlake Elks at a later date.
