She was born Oct. 25, 1923 in Avoca, Minn. and raised on the family farm. She attended Mankato State Teacher's College, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught elementary education. She met Charles "Chuck" Allen Peirson of New Richmond, Wis. in Vanport, Ore., where she was working with her sister in the Kaiser Shipyards during World War II. They married June 11, 1945. She and Charles were longtime members of Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport. She loved the coast and "antiquing." She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; brother, Richard VanderKooi; and sisters, Alice (VanderKooi) Keith, Anne Marie (VanderKooi) Moline and Agnes (VanderKooi) Paden. She is survived by her children, Charles "Chuck" A. (Cathie MacLennan) Peirson Jr. of Omak; daughter, Peggy Peirson (Evan Fieman) of Philomath; and grandchildren, Wynn White of Atlanta, Ga. and Charlie A. Peirson of Washington, D.C. Memorial services will be arranged at a future date at Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport. Memorial donations may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Coast Hwy, Newport, OR 97365-1710, or to a local elementary school program of one's choice or to any Oregon coast preservation program.­ Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
