Mitchell Jack Evans Mitchell, a former Lincoln City resident, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, in his hometown of Seaside. He was 91. Jack was born June 2, 1919, in Vancouver, Wash., to Edwin and Lucille (Evans) Mitchell. He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Casper, Wyo. He graduated from the University of Colorado after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland. On Aug.17, 1946, he married Virginia Ann Grinde in Eugene. She preceded him in death in 1997. The couple resided in The Dalles for 30 years, where he was a chiropractor, enthusiastic community fundraiser, supporter of high school athletics and involved in many community groups. He and Virginia moved to Lincoln City in 1977. He is survived by son Jeff Mitchell and daughter-in-law Virginia Macedo of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter Julie Mitchell of Neotsu; son Joe and daughter-in-law Kelly Mitchell of Portland; daughter Mindy and son-in-law Jim Poetsch of Seaside; grandsons Tiago Mitchell of Portland, Raffael Mitchell, of Santa Barbara and Matteus Mitchell of Santa Barbara. Son Jon Mitchell preceded him in death in 1978. He will be fondly remembered for his easy-going temperament, great sense of humor, integrity and honesty.
