Collins, 86, of Lincoln City, Ore. died June 4, 2010 in Corvallis, Ore. He was born June 27, 1923 in Siletz, where he spent his childhood and attended school. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He had a wonderful career serving his country from 1940-1964. After retiring from the military, he worked as a logger for 16 years. He took great pride in being a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arless West. He is survived by his daughters, Edell Richards, Theresa Collins, Divona Christensen, and Georgene McAlhany, all of Albany; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Siletz Tribal Community Center, with burial to follow at the Paul Washington Cemetery in Siletz.
