She was born Jan. 28, 1917 to William F. and Viney Bennett in Lumberton, Miss. She loved to travel to Europe with her husband, Jim, who was in the Air Force. She was very active in the VFW and American Legion in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. prior to moving to Newport after her husband passed away. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stewart. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Sandy) Barber of Newport; five grandchildren, Gloria Barber of Vancouver, Wash., Audrey Marshall of Anaheim, Calif., Michelle Barber of Beaverton, Jeff Barber of Tampa, Fla. and Jennifer Lee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and seven great-grandchildren.
