He was born Oct. 24, 1916 to Theodore Trujillo and Cornelia Cisneros in Rocky Ford, Colo. He left school prior to graduation to help his family during the Great Depression. He moved from Colorado to California in the 1930s and met and married Martha after a two-week courtship in 1945. They settled in the San Pedro, Palos Verdes area of Los Angeles. He was a member of the U.S. Army Flying Tigers during World War II. He was a member and foreman for the ILWU for 40 years, retiring in 1978. They moved to Waldport in 1990. He was a member of the Torrance, Calif. Elks Club, and a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He always enjoyed tinkering in his garage workshop. He was a self-taught craftsman and made beautiful furniture pieces. He could "fix" anything. After retirement, he loved golfing and would play one to two times a week. He was preceded in death by siblings, Phyllip, Grace, Joseph and Daniel. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Trujillo of Waldport; children, David Eugene (Patti) Trujillo, Gayle Lynn (Roderick) Stamnes, and Susan Ann (Rex) Newby; siblings, Tillie, Ida and Bill; and grandchildren, Nick Newby and Doug Newby A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corvallis. Memorial donations may be made to any veterans' association. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements.
