She was born May 30, 1928 to Walter Aldrich and Lula Edwards Aldrich in Eugene. She earned her GED and an associate degree from Clackamas Community College in business, and an associate degree from Multnomah School of the Bible in counseling. She married Jim Makin, and they had four children, Don, Glenn, John and Carol. She worked as a secretary at the state offices in Portland and also as an electronic technician at Tektronix in Beaverton. She was a member of Yachats Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. Her interests included being a caregiver, volunteer, gardener, beachcomber and dog walker. If anyone needed help, she was there with a huge smile on her face. She was a woman of God, a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lula Aldrich, and sons, Don Makin and Glenn Makin. She is survived by her children, John (Debra) Makin and Carol Lula Makin; brother, Oren (Helen) Aldrich; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held June 26 at Yachats Park Cemetery in Yachats. Affordable Burial and Cremation in Newport is handling arrangements. NOTE: "YACHATS" IS PRONOUNCED "YA-HOTS".
