    1. [ORLINCOL] Anna Emma Wilkinson --Obituary
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: marysday Surnames: Wilkinson, Volpp, Staats, Fischer, Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oregon.counties.lincoln/5595/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The News Times, Newport, OR 97365 Posted: Friday, Sep 24th, 2010 Anna Wilkinson Anna Emma Wilkinson, 93, of Oregon City, Ore., formerly of Depoe Bay, died Sept. 7, 2010. She was born March 19, 1917 to Elise and Adolph Volpp in Willamette, Ore. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up in Willamette and attended Willamette Grade School and West Linn High School, graduating in 1935. She married her high school sweetheart, James "Jim" Wilkinson in 1937. They lived in Gladstone, where sons James Jr. "Buddy" and Donald "Donny" were born. They moved to Willamette in 1946 and built a house on property acquired from her parents. In 1989, they moved to a little house with an ocean view in Depoe Bay, where her husband had skippered a charter boat for more than 25 years. He passed away that August, but she stayed on in Depoe Bay for 17 more years, enjoying the view, her garden and her many friends, before moving to Berry Park Retirement Center in Oregon City in 2006. She loved to garden and for many years kept a huge garden and took care of the many fruit and nut trees on their one-and-one-half acres in Willamette. She continued gardening after moving to Depoe Bay. Her family describes her as an expert baker of pies, cakes and cookies, and well into her 80s, she was still baking massive quantities of cookies to give away at Christmas time. She had friends of all ages in great abundance all her life and kept in constant contact with them by letter and phone. As old friends passed away, she stayed in touch with their children, their children's children and with the many younger friends she had made along the way. During her life, she took part in many activities, but none more important to her than once serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and sister, Orlena Staats. She is survived by her sons, James Jr. (Brenda) of King City, Ore. and Donald (Barbara) of Camas, Wash.; brother, Richard Volpp of Oregon City; sister, Evelyn Fischer of Dallas, Ore.; grandson, Adam (Angela) and great-grandchildren, Davis and Trevin of Vancouver, Wash. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a hospice or charitable foundation of one's choice. A celebration of life will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, 720 Jefferson St. in Oregon City. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
