William was a devoted husband to Marlene Sergeant. He moved from Washington to Five Rivers to help his father and brother run the Sergeant & Sons Saw Mill. He met and married Marlene in Newport, Oregon, October 24, 1953. In 1955, he was hired on at the G-P Plywood Mill in Toledo as a utility and worked his way up to the Union President and after that he became the Mill Manager. He loved to hunt and fish along with clamming and gardening. He became president of the mycological society (mushroom club). He is survived by his wife, Marlene; three children, Daniel (Berta), Teresa (Todd) and Cynthia; seven grandchildren, Shellie, Richie (deceased), Manfred, Raleigh, Katie, Spencer and Sophie; four great-grandchildren, Kira, Samantha, Cloe and Addison. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine (Norman) Hallowell and sister-in-law Thelma Sergeant, brother, John (deceased). As of this writing, there are no services. He was 83 years old. He was married to Linda. He gave 20 years of his life to the United States Air Force. He enjoyed all things outdoors from hunting and fishing to gardening and tinkering in the garage. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, his first wife and one son. He is survived by his wife Linda and her four children, his children Ken Kibler of Waterloo, Oregon, Debbie (Alan) Carpenter of Cuero, Texas, Keith Kibler and Dennise Kibler both of Albany, Oregon; his siblings Wanda (Donald) Burtram of Arkansas, Raymond (Betty) Kibler and Earl (Verona) Kibler both of Missouri. Elmer also enjoyed his 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. On Saturday, February 16th we invite you to a memory sharing celebration in Elmer's honor. Family and friends will gather at Izzy's in Newport from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm for munchies and lots of laughs. Groce Alma M. Groce, 90, of Waynetown, IN. passed away at her residence at 6:30 am Thursday, January 31, 2013. Mrs. Groce was born October 14th, 1922 in Veedersburg, IN the daughter of Glenn L. and Vessie Mae (Peevler) Lightle. She married Samuel J. Groce December 24, 1940 in Veedersburg; he preceded her in death in 2010. She is also preceded in death by a son, Randy Groce; three brothers, Derald, Wayne, and Walter "Poke" Lightle. Surviving family include two sons, Larry (wife, Linda) Groce, Logsden, OR; Kevin (wife, Janet) Groce, Lisle, IL; a sister Jean (husband, Harry) Groce, Waynetown, IN; ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Alma and Sam had resided in Lisle, IL for 25 years where she was employed as Xerox, upon their retirement in 1984 they moved to Cape Coral, FL; she had been living with her sister Jean in Waynetown since 2011. In years past she had enjoyed bicycling and golfing with her husband, their many travels throughout the United States; and she always looked forward to eating out with their friends on Friday evenings. In recent years she spent a great amount of time reading and working crossword puzzles. She graduated High School in Sterling, IN; and had been an active member of Cypress Grove Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, FL. Funeral service was held February 4, 2013 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg; Pastor Gary Johnson officiated. She is laid to rest at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. She was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Vernonia, Oregon, and graduated from Cleveland High School in Portland in 1958. She was married 33 years to Ed Mosley, who passed away in 2005. She had her own balloon bouquet business, and later worked for the City of Newport, Oregon, before retiring. She spent her retirement years being active in the First Presbyterian Church in Newport, and also worked as a volunteer hospice counselor. She is survived by three daughters: Patti (Donaghy) Pattison, Debi (Donaghy) Mathews, and SuAnn (Mosley) Floyd, as well as five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Newport, starting at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Linda's name to the American Diabetes Association. Bateman Funeral Home cared for the family.
