    1. [ORLINCOL] McQueen and McWilliams
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: muller1938 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oregon.counties.lincoln/6477/mb.ashx Message Board Post: McQueen and McWilliam: There is something of a mystery involving the family of Earnest McQueen (1889-1961) and Addie McWilliams (1892-1971). They are listed with 3 children in the 1920 census in Jackson, Harrison Co., IA. Earnest is a farm laborer and Addie a homemaker. They are listed in the under the McQUEEN surname. The family appears to have moved to Polk Co., OR before the 1930 census. And that is where the mystery deepens. With three additional children, the family is now listed under the McWILLIAMS surname and Addie is married to a Eugene McWilliams (a logging backer). The ages for Addie and Eugene are consistent with the ages in the 1920 census (plus 10 years of course). In 1940, Addie (still using her maiden name, but claiming to be married) is a housekeeper with the three youngest children at home in Lincoln Co., OR. Neither Earnest or Eugene is in the picture, but Earnest does reappear as a fisherman in the 1942 draft registration and listing Addie as someone who would know his whereabouts. Both Earnest and Addie are buried in the Eureka Cemetery and Mausoleum in Lincoln Co., OR (but in different parts). Who is Eugene McWilliams in the 1930 census? Could Addie have divorcd Earnest before the 1930 census and simply started using her maiden name? Other explanations .....? This is part of an effort to track the POLEN relations of my wife, Barbara Ann Morris (Muller). Earnest William McQueen is a 3rd cousin once removed of my wife. Willing to share information.
