He was born March 31, 1924 in Menno, South Dakota. He was one of thirteen children born to Emil Ott and Emilie (Remiert) Ott. Albert moved to Toledo in 1945. After arriving in Toledo he worked in lumber mills until he went into the army in 1948 where he served until 1950. Albert married Lillian Lee Scanlon on December 24, 1948 in Salinas, California. Christmas Eve would have been their 65th wedding anniversary. After being discharged from the military they settled in Philomath, Oregon where Albert worked in the Ben Ellis Lumber Mill until 1963. In 1963 the family moved to Toledo and Albert entered into a partnership with his brother-in-law, Ray Scanlon. Together they built and remodeled homes in the Lincoln County area for over fifteen years. They built the two "Welcome to Toledo" signs that can still be seen at either entrance to Toledo. After two surgeries, one in 1976 and another in 1979, Albert was forced to retire. Albert and Lillian were blessed with three children: Marvin, Diana and Linda. Albert enjoyed many card games, and time spent with all of his family. He loved to work with wood and made many bird houses, toys for the children, small pieces of furniture, display shelves and more. Albert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lillian Ott; son: Marvin (Donna) Ott of Albany; daughter: Diana (Ken) Potter of Toledo; one sister: Erna Zeeb of South Dakota; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; eleven siblings; a step-son: Fred Ott; and daughter: Linda Kay Greene. Charlotte & Melvin moved to Toledo in 1948. Charlotte attended St. Patrick's and St. Mary's Catholic Churches, was a member of the Lady Elks, the Emblem Club and various other service organizations. She enjoyed volunteering, bowling & playing cards. Charlotte was preceded in death by her son: Joseph Stangel; her husband: Melvin Stangel and several brothers and sisters. Shirley was born to Delmar and Marie Millican in Willamina, OR. on October 29, 1930. Shirley had six brothers and two sisters. Shirley married John Endre Oakland on November 18, 1946. Born to them were six children; Albert, Daniel, Steve, Sheree, Leslie, and Edwin J. (E.J.). Shirley worked a variety of jobs while raising her family, including positions with Halls IGA Market, Rays Market and Patterson's True Value before retiring in 1990 from the upholstery business "Shirley & Pat's Upholstery" that she and her sister, Pat Hunter, established in the 1980's. Following the passing of her husband John on August 17, 1990, Shirley married William (Bill) Nelson Bell on March 4, 1997. Shirley and Bill resided in Springfield, OR. until Bill's passing on April 8, 2004. In October of 2012, Shirley moved to Damascus, OR. to reside with her daughter, Leslie and family. Shirley was preceded in death by both of her husbands: John Endre Oakland and William (Bill) Nelson Bell; as well as her son: Daniel Lee Oakland. Shirley is survived by three brothers: Larry, Raymond and David; five children: Albert, Steve, Sheree, Leslie and E.J.; eleven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was born June 16, 1934 in Toledo, OR. to George James and Ethel Fay Springer. After graduating from Toledo High School he served from 1956 to 1960 in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He worked as a Police Officer in Newport, OR. and Chief of Police in Powers, OR. before moving to Reedsport in 1962 where he worked for I.P. Paper Mill for 36 years. George was a wonderful family man and quite the handyman! He could fix anything and always did so lovingly, for his family and friends. He enjoyed everything in life from snowmobiling to fishing, but most of all doing it with his family. George is survived by his loving wife: Betty Jean (Stam) Springer of 60 years; sister: Nadine Capps; three sons: Garry, Dan & Corey Springer; one daughter: Tamara Jones; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and their families'. George is preceded in death by his brother: Rawlin Springer; and sister: Darlene Gwynn. Bob was born February 19, 2013 to Clifford R. Otness and Hazel (Stemple) Otness in Centralia, WA. When he was 4 years old his family moved to the Portland area from Centralia and attended Oakley Green grade school. Bob graduated from Benson High School in 1941, then worked in the Oregon shipyard until he was 18 and was able to enlist in the Navy where he was employed from August 1942 through March 1962 as ITE Chief Electrician. During his enlistment with the Navy he received additional education through Naval Ed-Services School for Class "A" Electrician, Mate's School in San Diego, CA. and Flt. Machine Gun School AATC. While on leave in 1949 he met Jacqueline (Jackie) D. Rust. They were married on December 17th, 1950. During his service in the Navy, he and his wife had three children. Bob retired from the Navy after 20 years of service and moved to Waldport. He then worked locally at RQ Mills from 1962-1981 then managed Dahl's True Value in Toledo, OR. with his wife Jackie for 8 years, until he again retired. For the following 20 years, he and Jackie travelled to all 50 states and parts of Europe. During the Oregon winters, they were also Arizona snowbirds. After his wife, Jackie, passed away in 2010, he was loved and cared for at home by his family. He remained an active member of the VFW. Bob was very active in the local men's bowling league, Moose, VFW, Lions, Fleet Reserve Assoc. and JC's. He loved to golf, play cards, go bowling and was a huge sports fan of all kinds which led him to score keeping and umpiring for his grand kids and great grand kids. Bob cherished the years spent traveling with his wife Jackie. Bob is survived by his children: Marcia L. Pickner, Russell W. Otness; grandkids: Lucas A. Pickner (Yvonne), Carmin F. Hill (Ryan), Crystal E. Pickner, Eddie Coordes, Jacqueline M. May (Mickey), Daniel P. Higgs (Robyn) and Alana Otness; great grandkids: Devontae Otness, Kyra and Kaitlyn Pickner, Tia and Kole Hill, Sharon and Caleb May, Dalyn, Madyson and Jaxyn Higgs, and Ashton and Quinton Coordes; two sisters: Betty Englert (Lloyd) of Camas, WA.; four neices: Gail Englert-Jones of Portland, OR., Kay Winter of Vancouver, WA., Neuta Rust of Grass Valley, OR., and Janet Patterson (Larry) of Spokan, WA. He was born in Tallman, Oregon and lived in Oregon all of his life except for serving his country in the United States Army during World War II in Europe, 1944 - 1947. Arthur met and married the love of his life Flora (Chandler) Jinks, July 28th, 1948 and was quickly called back to serve in the Army in 1950 for the Korean conflict. In 1952 Arthur joined the Oregon State Police and was selected in 1979 by the Oregon District Attorneys Association as The Law Enforcement Officer of the year for the State of Oregon before retiring in 1980 as Lieutenant. Arthur was a life member of the V.F.W and American Legion. Arthur is preceded in death by his son: Lawrence Jincks. In 1963 the family moved to Oregon where Gloria graduated from South Salem High in 1965. Our mother was always a hard worker. In between raising her family she had various careers. She worked for DMV, Prigg Cottage as a security secretary and shift supervisor at Fairview Training Center. She retired from Chemewa Indian School. Gloria liked gardening, baking, cooking, crocheting and loved being with her grandkids. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Thomas and Florence Grant; her husband: Charles Lane; and her grandson: Zachary. Gloria is survived by her daughters: Donna and Lori; sons: Daniel and Lyle; sisters: Donna Mae, Barbara, and Patricia; brother: William; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969 where he served in Vietnam and played the Sousaphone in the Marine Corps Band. After the military he returned to Toledo and worked at GP Plywood Mill and Retail Lumber Yard. He retired from Pro-Build. Gary loved camping, fishing and hunting, especially with his brothers. He enjoyed old movies. John Wayne movies were his all time favorite. Gary is survived by his daughters: Christy (Dave) Huguley of Newport, OR., and Andrea Norick of Toledo, OR.; son: Garrett Norick of Newport, OR; sisters: Betty Jacobson of Toledo, OR, Aloma Templeton of Marysville, WA., and Carolyn Robertson of Buckley, WA.; brothers: Larry (Joyce) Norick of Portland, OR. and Randy (Sharon) Norick of Camas, WA.; granddaughters: Ciara Hoffman and Emma Huguley.
