She was adopted at the age of 6 by Paul and Elsa Kuel of Lincoln City. She graduated from Taft Elementary in 1934 and Taft High School in 1938. For several years after high school, she was a river guide on the Siletz River. She later went to beauty school in Portland. In 1956, she married Clyde Mohn. They moved from Portland in the 1970s to live on the Siletz River. She and Clyde operated a dog grooming business. She was a Jehovah's Witness for the past 54 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Mohn. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Janet Mohn and Jane (Norman) Swinney; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Lincoln City, 3794 SE High School Drive. She was born Aug. 15, 1922 to Adrian Wayne Franklin and Lillian Pryde (Hamilton) Franklin in Newberg. She grew up living in Portland and Oretown, Ore., and moved with her family to Hidden Valley Ranch outside of Toledo in 1938. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1941. On Oct. 1, 1941, she married Albert Ivan Croston in Newport. After living in Toledo, Newport and Harlan, she and her husband purchased a ranch in the Elk City area in 1953, where they raised their five children. She worked at C.D. Johnson Lumber Co. in Toledo during World War II, and worked as a nurse's aide at New Lincoln Hospital in Toledo from 1970 to 1980. She was a 4-H leader and participated in the Lincoln County Fair for a number of years. She loved caring for the sheep and goats that she raised. She was a member of the Grange (Harlan and Elk City #515) for 68 years, earning her 6th degree, and was a member of the Oregon State Grange. One of the great events of her life was when she got to tour the USS Constitution (Old Ironside) when it was brought to Portland in the 1930s. Her uncle, several times removed, Capt. Bainbridge, commanded the ship in 1812. Her hobbies included researching the Bainbridge family history, collecting egg-shaped objects and playing pinochle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ivan Croston; her parents, Adrian Wayne Franklin and Lillian Pryde Franklin; brothers, Vernon Beverly and Wesley (Babe) Harrison; and half brother, Adrian Arden. She is survived by her children, Adrian Bradford Croston of Toledo, Karen Ann (Israel) Quinones of Portland, Sandra Elaine Kampert of Portland, Joanne Lee (Larry) Collier of Portland, and Albert Ivan (Laura) Croston, Jr. of Tillamook; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was born Aug. 17, 1956 to Don Hayden Lutz and Eleanor Marie (Olson) Lutz, in Salem. In 1974, he graduated from McNary High School in Keizer and moved to the Oregon coast in 1988. He met Janet Beilke, and they were married on June 30, 1998 in Knight Park at Cascade Head. He was employed with the Willamette Cherry Growers, Salishan Lodge and Fairview Training Center. He was an accomplished musician and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Janet Lutz, of Otis; sons, Andy Boaz of Pacific City, and Bill Boaz of Sherwood; sisters, Cindy (Bill) Hamme of Naples, Calif., Donna (Dave) Sanders of Depoe Bay, Rebecca Dugan of Lakeview, Calif.; brother, Craig (Trish) Lutz of Albany; and one grandchild. He was born Sept. 23, 1923 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He moved to California with his family in the 1930s. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Manila under General MacArthur. He returned to California and completed his college education, earning a bachelor's degree and a teaching credential. He taught for the Los Angeles Unified School District and retired after 25 years. He married his wife, Georgianne, and moved to Newport, where he resided until his death. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles and American Legion. She graduated from high school in Alliance and then moved to California to build and own The Gateway Lodge and The Sequoia Cider Mill, both in Three Rivers, Calif., from 1951 through 1982. She married Mervin C. McCoy in San Mateo, Calif. in 1939, until she was widowed in 1995. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Siletz and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Lucerne Chapter in California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mervin C. McCoy; five brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by sisters, Opal Horn of Keizer, Ore. and Velda Kinate, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five nieces, Linda Palmer of Newport, Vickie Lander of Keizer, Sharon Pembrook of Laguna Hills, Calif., Elsie Roach of Pioneer, Calif. and Diana Horn of Aumsville, Ore.; nephew Ron Horn of Palmetto, Fla.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was born May 19, 1916 to Alonzo and Olive Stam in Faribault, Minn. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal. On March 14, 1936 he married his sweetheart, Jean Eloise Howe, in Faribault. He had several careers during his lifetime. He worked as a licensed electrician at Minneapolis Moleen in Minnesota, a bootlegger, an electroplater and a construction worker on the Alaskan Highway. He also worked for the federal government with the housing project in Siletz, and was a deputy for the City of Siletz. Most recently, he was known for his pop can collecting and attendance at garage sales in Siletz. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Siletz. He and his wife of 65 years, Jean Eloise, were foster parents for more than 50 children over the years. He worked tirelessly to raise money to build the Siletz Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Olive Stam; his wife, Jean; sons, Rodger, Michael and Gary; daughter, Judith; sisters, Harriet and Ellen; and his brother, Grant. He is survived by his daughters, Betty Springer of Reedsport, Ore. and Sharon Reid of Siletz; brother, Herb Stam of Faribault, Minn.; sisters, Rose "Sis" of Minnesota, and Lucille "Teeny" of California; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was born Oct. 16, 1918 to John F. and Dottie M. (Burgoyne) Greeninger in Eden, Idaho. He grew up in Jerome, Idaho, and later attended Florida Bible Institute, where he received a bachelor's degree. He served in the U.S. Navy on the Battleship U.S.S. Guam in World War II. He married IvaLee Susan Cruise in Lebanon on Feb. 16, 1947. He worked in refrigeration and air conditioning until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with this family, as well as music, flying airplanes, camping and fishing. His hobbies also included photography, singing in a band, and playing the organ, piano, saxophone, clarinet, guitar and mandolin. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He is survived by his wife, IvaLee Greeninger; his sons, Danny Greeninger and Fred Greeninger; his daughter, Diana Vallelunga; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was born Jan. 29, 1949 to Kenton Leroy Sanders and Mary Lou Dobbs in Youngstown, Ohio. He moved to Chicago with his family until age 11, when they moved to New York City. He lived in New York City for one year, then moved to Oakland, Calif. in 1961. He attended Oakland High School. During the 1960s he was involved in anti-war activities in the San Francisco Bay area. He moved from California to Portland, Ore. in 1972 and worked in the shipyards for five years. He became an apprentice journeyman in the pipefitting industry. He first worked for Local 235 in Portland in 1976 and then U.A. Local 290 Plumber, Steamfitter and Shipfitter industry. He established a household in Waldport in 1993, and on Oct. 3, 2000, he married Diane Lynn Price. He spent the last seven years working on developing his rural property outside of Waldport and working as a pipe fitter and welder until his retirement in 2005. He was a 34-year member of the U.A. Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, hiking and traveling. He was an animal lover. One of his greatest passions was golfing, and he was a member of the Agate Beach Golf Course in Newport since 2008. He was a gifted photographer who was always looking at the world through the eyes of one who wants to capture the magic moments of life. He was interested in lapidary and jewelry making and spent time combing the central Oregon coast beaches in search of agates and other interesting rock specimens, which he would polish and use to make jewelry. He was devoted to environmental causes and human rights issues. He participated in local group activities of the Concerned Citizens for Clean Air (CCCA). He was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He was preceded in death by his father Kenton Leroy Sanders; brother Jack Farrell Sanders; and son Corey Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Diane Lynn Sanders of Waldport; his mother, Mary Lou Dobbs-Montauk of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Paul Marvin Sanders of San Diego; and sister, Juliette Montauk of Charlotte. Her hobbies also included baking and rug hooking, and she had a passion for collecting stuffed animals and liked dogs and cats. She was an avid reader of non-fiction and loved the outdoors. She was a wonderful mother and endeared her grandchildren as "darling grandsons and darling great-grandchildren." She was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas, Frankie, Lawrence, Eddy, Chuck, Richard, Ann, Clara, Rosalie and Margaret. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Wayne Hodges; daughter, Barbara J. Becksted of Toledo; sisters, Bernice Dockins of Waldport and Viola Sabin of Tigard; grandchildren, Chad (Leona) and Brodie (Amy) Becksted; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was 90. Dorothy was born June 25, 1919, in Chicago to Thomas and Helga Gawne. She graduated from Chicago's Parker High School in 1937 and attended the University of Iowa, where she met John M. (Jack) Brady of Keokuk, Iowa. They were married in Chicago in 1938. During World War II, they lived in both El Centro, Calif., and Corvallis, Ore., while Jack was stationed with the Marines. After the war they lived in Omaha, Neb., and Chicago before moving to Lake Oswego, Ore., in 1956. They moved to Lincoln City in 1962 and to North Bend in 1999. When Dorothy's beloved husband Jack died in November 2008 at the age of 91, they had been married 70 years. As a youth, Dorothy enjoyed swimming, speed skating, sailing, drawing, painting and the music of Louis Armstrong and the big bands. She was an expert seamstress, knitter, cook, baker and gardener who also enjoyed reading, poetry, antiques, flower arranging, bird watching and the beach. Dorothy was an active volunteer for her church, her children's school and youth activities, and her community. In retirement, she and her husband enjoyed car travel and spending winters in southern California. Dorothy is survived by her younger brother, Thomas Gawne of Chicago; her three daughters, Helen Goss of Dubuque, Iowa, Dorothy (Debbie) Juola of Boise, Idaho, and Sara (Sally) Simpkins of North Bend; and 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Loving Care Adult Foster Care Home, 2404 Liberty Street, North Bend, OR, which provided outstanding care to both Dorothy and her husband Jack during the last two years of their lives. He was born July 24, 1921, to Charley Roy Burch and Etta Gray Burch in Yaquina, Ore., the youngest of five children. On March 27, 1947, he married Evalynn Edwards Krog, who had two children. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He spent several years working as a logger and in sawmills, and began working for the Oregon State Highway Department in 1957. He retired from Oregon Department of Transportation as a foreman of the Waldport Maintenance Station in 1980 and returned to the family farm near Eddyville. He was a long-time member of the Blodgett Community Church, but in recent years attended Eddyville Community Church with his children. He was preceded in death by his wife Evalynn; his siblings; and one grandson. He is survived by his children Dick (Carol) Krog, of Eddyville, and Lillian (Bart) January, of Harlan; grandchildren Rich Krog, of Forney, Texas, Kara Hawkes of Salem, Kathleen Sapp of Harrisburg, and James January of Bend; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Roberta Hunt of Elk Creek, Calif. and Hannah Wilson of Eddyville; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Betty Jacobson of Toledo. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Summit Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Eddyville Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Lincoln County Hospice or Benton County Hospice, the Eddyville Community Church or a charity of one's choice. She was born May 1, 1920 to George and Vida (Proctor) Compton in Maltby, Wash. She was a graduate of the University of Washington School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for Drs. Barker and Forinash in Newport for more than 30 years. On Dec. 5, 1942, she married Charles E. Fogarty. She loved to travel, camp, fish and hunt. She was an avid writer in her travel and daily journals and took great joy in being a member of a Bunco group. She was a committed member of the St. James Episcopal Church and served on the church guild and was also a member of Business and Professional Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vida Compton; her husband, Charles Fogarty; brother, Errol Compton; and sister-in-law, Norma Compton. She is survived by her son, George E. Fogarty and fiancée Stephanie Hensley, of Lincoln City; daughter, Joanie (John) Hanby of Portland; daughter, Carol Fogarty of Portland; granddaughters, Alison (Eamon) McManus of Durham, U.K., and Kendra (Dermot) Maty of Portland; and great-grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin McManus. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Episcopal Parish of St. James Church in Lincoln City. She was born Nov. 20, 1913 to Kenyon Robert Keys and Amma A. (Lochabay) Keys in O'Brien, Texas. She graduated from high school in O'Brien, and later married Virgil Johnson in 1932 in Shamrock, Texas. They had three children, Byron, Clo and Joy, while living in Shamrock, and their daughter, Sue, was born in Waldport. Virgil died in 1949. She married Robert Faust on Nov. 24, 1951, and he died in 1978. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil Johnson; her second husband, Robert M. Faust; her son, Byron Johnson; three brothers; and one grandchild. She is survived by her children, Clo Edwards of Salem, Joy Ritchey of Siletz, and Sue Ladwig of Bend; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and two great-great-great grandchildren. A private vaulted interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Gates, Ore. Memorial donations may be made to a local hospice or a charity of one's choice.
