    3. Hello All, I also am researching the Groat line, though a little stuck right now. I have a Malcom Groat that emmigrated from the Orkneys in 1826 and settled in Bothwell, Orford township, Kent County (I believe), Canada. He became a Grant at some point during this emmigration, for unknown reasons. He was born in 1826. This is per the "Illustrated Hist. Atlas of the Counties of Essex and Kent, 1881, page 108" This was the first piece of hard evidence I have found on old Malcom. Can't seem to get anything on him prior to the voyage. I would be very interested in comparing notes with anyone else who is tracking this line. I have some stuff posted at www.grantgg.com/~grantda .
