Hi all, My recent receipt of a great-uncle's research shows that my 3G grandmother, Elizabeth WOOLRIDGEwas the daughter of John Woolridge and Barbara DUNCAN. Elizabeth was born in about 1809 and, at 12 years old, was shown in the 1821 census as living with John and Eliza Duncan in South Ronaldsay- John and Eliza were both 62 so I imagine they were her grandparents. The Hugh McKay shown living there is likely the brother of Elizabeth's future husband Donald, one of the many McKays who came to South Ronaldsay from Farr, Sutherland at about that time. If anyone connects to these families, I'd like to know. I had the census results quite a while ago, but didn't know the connection until I got Eliza's mother's name!
