If it is any help, the 1851 census of Kirkwall & St. Ola (div. 8, Kirkwall) lists the following: address: probably Queen Street Hepburn, John head married 72 Farm servant born Shapinshay Elizabeth wife married 76 born Kirkwall There are 21 Hepburns listed in the index to Kirkwall and St. Ola (including other Hepburns of John's and Peter's generations - most from Shapinshay) and 9 Caithness entries. No obvious connections unless John and Elizabeth went back to Shapinshay for a while. Perhaps a search of the 1841 census of Kirkwall may list some of the children still at home if you are lucky.
