Hi, I am new to this list and am asking for your assistance with part of my wife's family - MOWAT. I am told that every MOWAT came from the Orkneys. The information we have is MOWAT, William married ALLAN, Janet. Their son MOWAT, James married PETTIGREW, Elizabeth, Their son MOWAT, George a coal miner married THORBURN, Janet in Kilmarnock on December 31, 1879.
