Joyce, I have a Thomas Swanney who married Jane Irvine 7 Jan, 1836 Eday & Pharay, orkney. their son John Swanney born 20 Feb, 1841. Most of this family in Eday & Pharay, then Shapinsay. I have other siblings, etc., but none seem to fit yours. Could be cousins, so hang in there. I am trying to find birth particulars on Thomas S.
