    3. G'day from Western Australia, I'm new to the list, but you may have seen my name elsewhere in relation to the 1851 and 1821 Census transcripts and indexes that I've published on microfiche. "The Orcadian" is a weekly newspaper published in Kirkwall. Price £61.88 payable by credit card. (The £61.88 pre annum is for surface mail to Western Australia, but the papers often come by air mail). The address to write to is The Orcadian Ltd, P.O. Box 18, Kirkwall, Orkney KW15 1DW, Scotland or Fax (0)1856-879001. I notice that some of the recent postings relate to the Parishes of Orphir, Stromness and South Ronaldshay. These are three of the six Parishes that have survived from the 1821 Census. (The others are Sandwick, St Andrews and Deerness and they're available in North America on microfiche from the Ontario Genealogical Society ) The 1821 lists all household members and often has some gem of a comment by 19th century transcribers. For places to stay, contact the Orkney Tourist Bureau in Kirkwall. They have a free brochure listing accommodation ranging from hotels to bed & breakfast to self catering cottages. (Sorry I haven't got their address at my fingertips). Cheers David Armstrong Researching Stewart, Stout, Baikie, Malcomson, Sutherland, Heddle, Bews, Gray mostly in Walls
