I was interested in Janette's (janmax@vds.net.au) on a Robert Paterson GROUNDWATER, since a quick search doesn't turn up that name in the cursister.com listing of Groundwaters. My line within that listing goes back to: William Groundwater, b 16 January 1839, son of William Groundwater (2) and Mary Walker, Old Machar, Aberdeen. The father of William GROUNDWATER(2) was a William GROUNDWATER, soldier, who married an Isabella CAMERON. He is not in the Cursister.com listing either. He would have been born abt 1788, but I have not yet been able to find further information about him, eg. born in Orkney (Orphir?), or in Aberdeen? I would be interested in what information Janette has on GROUNDWATER, so see if I can make a connection.
