    3. G'day Debbie, I think you can rest assured that Deepdale hasn't been "developed". The current population of Orkney is only in the mid to upper 20,000s. A Quoy is an enclosure usually with a stone wall, and usually used for penning farm animals. I believe it originates from the old Norse dialect called Norn which was displaced by English. (Gaelic is not a language that is native to Orkney).
