Meg I am just waiting for my own copy of the 1881 census to arrive. They are still on backorder. In the meantime if I get back to my local LDS centre I will check it out on the fiche. If you can send me a scan of the 1891 census that you found of Pirie\Pierie I would appreciate it. If you can't don't worry about it. Could you tell me what parishes are on the 1891 census that you have access to? But they are listed as PIRIE ! Have re-checked the handwritten records of the 1891 census - and what had appeared as a stray mark in the area of the first ' e ' of PIERIE, might be a mark to cross out the ' e ' ! The only other PIERIE surname found is hard to read (blobby ink), but could easily be PIRIE, not PIERIE. Have found 111 PETRIEs on the 1881 Census CDs !!!! Looked only for those born in the Orkneys. We haven't had the scanner on for a bit, it is disconnected. Will fire it up ASAP and send the PETRIE scans to you. Please LMKnow what you want to do with the PIRIEs - send them ? Meg PS - if any other Listers want these PETRIE scans, LMKnow. I won't hand-enter them all and post them onto the ORKNEY List, but a scan sent off-list is easy.
