    3. Listers - Have been waiting patiently for a replacement disc from the LDS chruch for the 1881 Census set. I did not receive Disc #3, the one with the letter ' H ' for my HALCRO/Ws. When it arrived yesterday, I find that the entire family was left off the CD set ! I know they existed, a family member paid an Archivist in 1985 for the information to be researched in Kirkwall at the Library. We have their complete listing at Orphir. This agrees with the previous census years. Joseph and Jessie HALCRO, and 7 of their 10 children are listed at Norns in Orphir. The children were: Thomas (19), Robina Jane (14), James (12), Peter (9), Joseph (7), Margaret (5), and Mary E. (2). The oldest son (William - 24) was already married, and living near Glasgow in Renfrewshire. We FOUND him there, and his wife, Isabella, with their eldest daughter, also an Isabella. Two remaining family members (John - 20 and Jessie Ann - 17) were probably employed elswhere, or had also left the Island, but they, too are not listed, even by the researcher. We know they survived, I guess I have to go to the 1891 census now. What is the rate of omission for this 1881 set? Have read speculations on other lists, have any other ORKNEY listers found their searches come up 'blanks' also? Thank you for any insights - Meg Greenwood - Oklahoma, USA
