    3. Janine I am working on trying to find out which ship my great grandfather came over on. It's possible that he worked for the Hudson Bay Company. I guess a lot of young Orkney men did. I am awaiting a bunch of letters that his daughter had passed down to her daughter and then to the next generation. I wasn't aware of these letters still being out there and they are from the 1890's. A cousin in Orkney shared all the family happenings with William and his daughter. It will be really interesting to read these. Hopefully it will give me some insight on what happened and how he got here. Good luck with your search.
