Dear Diane, I also an trying to find out all I can about the Orkneys, as now both sides of my family have ancestors there. I would like to take a peep at the site, or contact the person you did? I am having trouble even finding a decent MAP of the Orkney group. The one I found on the internet has only 15 of the islands named, and no size reference. The Dialect word of the day sounds interesting - is that related to the Orkney Islands as well? I also dream of going there one day - to visit Pomona, and Shapinsay, Westray and Papa Westray and imagine living back in those times.
