Diane My great grandfather also came from South Ronaldsay to Ontario in 1871. His name was John Petrie. I am pretty lucky as John wrote a poem in 1928 about his life and his 12 children. This poem has been a great help in my research of my family. Do you know u ship William came over on as I can't find out which one John came over on yet and maybe they came together. If you know anything about the trip over here I would really appreciate it.
