I have a SPENCE connection. Helen married into the Wallace family and I have tentatively assembled a tree for her. ( I believe that her mother Helen Thomson and John Wallace's mother Elizabeth Thomson may be related.) What I find very interesting is that she and her husband went to Canada where their first two children were born but by the next census were back in South Ronaldsay.
