    3. Hello Shyama, I'm afraid that I can't help you much about the origin of the name but as a youngster in the 30's/40's I lived in Innerleithen in Peebles-shire. As you say EUMAN was quite a common name in the Borders. My parents were friendly with a Mrs EUMAN who had a shop in Innerleithen High Street at that time but I can't remember what she sold. I think that there were two or three other local families of that name but not sure if they were related. All lost in the mists of time!! My maternal g. grandfather., Alexander AULD, a 'Coachman, Domestic', with his wife and family were on the island of Rousay in the Orkneys from about 1875 to 1883.
