Best >wishes, Deirdre Liddell Hay. > I found a wonderful little history book called "The Orkney Book" unfortunately I lent it and can't get it back. It was written "by Orcadians for Orcadians" circa 1908. I found it at http://www.bibliofind.com they have quite a few books on Orkney, the site acts as a listing resource for book dealers around the world, I actually purchased from a book store in Manitoba and got a very good exchange rate for my US dollar. It's really charming, but not fully informative. Other books are available that include more information based on the excavations that have taken place this century. There's one by Patrick Bailey with some great pictures, I can't recall the title. Try Amazon.com.uk - their UK bookstore and Leonard's bookstore at http://www.orkneyislands.com I believe there are also some books available for purchase at http://www.orkney.com - It can be pricey to purchase directly from the UK if you're in the US, adds about 40% to the price. I did see a book entitled something like "Who was Who in Orkney" at Amazon its suppose to be more of a history book than a genealogy book, but good for sorting out the historical figures that played a part in Orkney history.
