John was a common name. I have some Stevensons in our line and the research of two Stevenson cousins. There were some Stevensons that emigrated to Canada, and some where in my archived email I have a reference to a book on the Stevensons written by some Stevensons in Connecticut - send me an email after the holidays directly to anne@rendall.net and I'll look for this information for you. You should also contact the Hudson Bay Company for information - perhaps your ancestor worked for them - many Orcadians did, if so they will have a record. Anne
