Dear Listers, The last few posts to this list have prompted me to repost my PEACEs in case it rings a bell with anyone. I am living in Australia and also disabled so I can only use on-line means to track down my roots. Scots Origins has not really helped me much so far. My Peaces seem to be from around Greenock and Kirkfell areas. Robert PEACE b. 1733. m.Margaret McEACH(E)RAN One of their sons was James PEACE occ.Shipwright b.1786 d.12/11/1864. m. Margaret MATHIESON I have no details of James' siblings. Their son was Robert PEACE b.8/1/1822 West Parish of Greenock, no details of siblings d. 19/07/1908 Auckland New Zealand. m.Margaret Sharp FERGUSON (poet and music teacher) on 12/11/1845, b. unknown d. 12/4/1897 Auckland New Zealand. Their children were: 1.Andrew Gilmour PEACE b.12/12/1846 Greenock then left Greenock in 1847 and sailed to St John's, Newfoundland. The following surviving children were born in St. Johns Newfoundland: 2. James Grieve PEACE b. 1848, 3. Robert McEachran PEACE b. 1849, 4. John Knox PEACE b. 1852, 5. Alexander Harvey PEACE b.1856, 6.Margaret Sawers PEACE b. 1859, 7. Sarah Alexandrina PEACE b. 1861, 8.Colin Archibald PEACE b. 1863 They lived for a time in the Governor's cottage. Along with a few other families they chartered the vessel "Clara" and sailed to New Zealand in 1861 they had 1 more child 9.Neale Hill PEACE in Auckland NZ. Margaret Sharp FERGUSON was daughter of John FERGUSON (Shipbuilder) and Margaret SHARP-- no further details.
