My GGfather was William HALCROW. He was born in Orphir in 1856. His headstone says : In Loving Memory of my Dear Husband, WILLIAM HALCROW who died 10th May, 1911. Aged 54 years. Interred in Sightbill Cemetery. 111 Petershill Road. Isabel Halcrow. I am asking if this refers to the possible fact he is not buried at the same location as this headstone. I do not know the location of the headstone,in fact, I am not even sure this is really what the real marker says - this is a copy of what looks like a 3" x 4" card with decorative scripts included in the research done by an Orkney researcher in 1985. The above words are listed on it, the 'back' reveals a touching poem about a light being gone and a vacancy left in the home because of his passing. Was this a Funeral Card ? Our family always thought that this 3" x 4" black and white copy with a small one-eighth inch black border was the image of the headstone or grave marker. Isabel HALCROW was his wife, maiden surname WILSON from Stromness. Is Sightbill Cemetery near Orphir ? Family rumor says it was in Glasgow. We never knew he traveled there, but it is possible.
