G'day Catherine, Eday and Pharay are two islands in Orkney that also happen to be combined to form a Parish. A British Parish is much the same as a North American township (I'm assuming that you're posting from North America). Between 1861 and 1881, Orkney lost about a quarter of its population from migration, so for your Margaret to turn up down south in Scotland in 1881 would not be unusual. I'd be interested, if in the course of your research you pick up on a William Peace of Eday, his wife Margaret Stewart of South Ronaldshay and their two children John (1849) and William (1851). My connection is through Margaret Stewart and this another of the many lines of cousins that I have not yet had time to trace to the modern day.
