    3. BH>My ggg-grandfather was Andrew Setter from Westray, joined HBC in 1800 BH>and lived out his life in Canada. BH>Scottish birth records CD shows an Andrew of the right age born to BH>Thomas Setter and Margaret Rendall of Westray. Other sibs were Janet, BH>Margaret, and James. My Andrew's Metis children included these names. I BH>am trying to find if Thomas and Margaret could be my gggg-grandparents. BH>Do you(or any other readers) have any records that might confirm this BH>connection? I realize Setter (Seator) (Seattor) is a very common name on BH>Westray as is Rendall. Andrew Setter (born 1777 died Feb 1 1870). From Westray or Rousay,OKI. Entered HB Co. service as a labourer 1798. Served at Green Lake 1805; Island Lake 1809-10; and in the Sask district 1811-19 as a canoeman. At Assiniboine and Qu'Appelle Rivers 1820-22. Returned to Red River settlement. Married Margaret Bates or Spence. Children: James - baptised 1821 George - baptised 1821 Margaret or Peggy - baptised 1821 Isabelle, baptised 1821 Elizabeth or Betsy - baptised 1822 Catherine - baptised 1827 Mary - baptised 1834 John - baptised 1836 Above from 1. Saskatchewan Genealogical Society Bulletin 3/3, 29. 2. Hudson's Bay Biographies - typed biographies of employees of the Hudson's Bay Company, prepared at the Hudson's Bay Company Archives, Vaughan Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba RC3 1T5 - arranged alphabetically. (I think this Postal Code is wrong - it may be R3C) Could the following be your Andrew's brother? Setter, George: 1782-1862. From OKI. Entered Hudson's Bay Co. Service as a labourer 1805. By his "great address, indefatigable labours and exertions, and determined hostility to the North West Company," rose to the charge of posts. Served for a time in the Red River district. See Hudson Bay Miscellany 1670-1870 edited by Glyndwr Williams. Winnipeg: Hudson's Bay Records Society, 1975. Looking at the IGI, there was an Andrew born to Thomas Setter and Margaret Rendell Mar 20 1780 in Westray. This could very well be his parents....the 3 years difference in age between the IGI and the above immigration record is pretty common. /patricia --- þ SLMR 2.1a #7 þ Patricia Patterson, Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA
