Greetings I normally do not post to this group but am sending this request for a fellow member of our Genealogical Group who does not have a computer nor access to the internet. She is looking for information on her husband's great-grandfather's family. The information she has is as follows: Robert REID was born 18 April 1827. (no middle name) He was the son of Robert REID and Betsy LOUTITT. He died at age 48 in 1875 on the Island of Eday. On 5 February 1852 he married Charlotte STEVENSON. Family stories say that the family were banished TO the Island of Eday. It is not known for sure if it was Robert & Charlotte who were banished or if it was his parents, Robert and Betsy. Where did the REID family come from prior to their being on the Island of Eday? What would the reason for the banishment have been? There is some suggestion that there may have been members of the family on the Island of Saray. If anyone can help with this quest please contact me and I will pass the information on to Helen. She is planning another trip to the Orkney Islands in May and would like to find something on the family before heading overseas.
