There are probably many Braeheads in Orkney and Scotland generally - the name derives from the Scots word "brae" meaning a steep slope, hillside or river bank. There is a farmhouse, "The Braehead", on the hill above the western shore of the bay of St Margarets Hope, South Ronaldsay. The property was aquired by Alexander KENNEDY in 1763. His descendants, including ALLAN, BANKS and SINCLAIR families, lived there until at least the 1930s. __________________________ Keith Dash Sydney, Australia
