A while back a person wrote to this list and said that he/she was a decendant of a person who had escaped from that ship, the Crown of London, which sank at Mull Head, parish of Deerness in 1679. He/she said that the ancestor (they gave his real name) escaped and changed his name to Dearness and settled on one of the other of the Orkney Islands. I would really appreciate it if that person would write to this list again or to me, personally, and tell me what the name of that ancestor was before he changed his name to Dearness. I cannot find that original letter Thank you.. Respectfully Mel Rich E-mail: MRich10000@aol.com
