Many of are from my family but the census gives some detail that I didn't have. The Margaret aged 82 on one of the other postings would be the mother of the Thomas below. Her daughter Mary married Thomas Scott in 1827 on Eday and they emigrated to Australia in 1849 with their nine children. I'd be very interested in any other Shearer/Sherars you might pick up on the Shapinshay census.
