Fiona, Malcolm Ross Brown born on 2 March 1836 to John Brown and Barbara Ross was my great great granduncle. His brother William Laughton Brown was my great great grandfather. William was married to Caroline Makinson. My notes say that Malcolm Ross Brown went to Australia so perhaps he had gone by 1861 George Gray, Orkney ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 04, 2005 1:51 PM Subject: [Orkney] 1841/51 Census lookup > Wondered if anyone would be kind enough to look up census for South > Ronaldsay for a Malcolm Ross Brown born 1836.Parents were John Brown and > Barbara > Ross. They lived at Hallbrake/Haybrake South Ronaldsay. > He's not in the 1861 census . > There is another Malcolm Ross Brown, born c1857 to a John Brown and Betsy > Rosie in the 1861 census at Old Hallbrake and I think I have confused > these two > people. > The John Brown at Old Hallbrake was the son of Edward Brown and Catherine > Windwick while the John Brown married to Barbara Ross was the son of John > Brown > and Catherine Rosie. > HELP! > fIONA > > > ==== ORKNEY Mailing List ==== >>>>>List Rule: Do not post regarding Virus, Infected E-mails or Spam > Many worms, trojans, or viruses forge (copy) the "From" e-mail address, > making them appear to come from someone you know (such as RootsWeb.com). > Or, they may have a file name that would make it look like a legitimate > e-mail address.
