Blake, I had saved your mail in my inbox which is now very cluttered, and had been remiss in not replying, so I am trying to sort that now. My ancestor ,Andrew Strang, had three wives, one of whom was Isabella Cruikshank They had a daughter Eliza b 1807 d 1859 in St. Margaret's Hope. She married James Allan, Shipmaster, in 1837. They had a daughter named Mary Kennedy Allan born the same year.The coincidence of names, Kennedy and Allan, seems too close to be accidental. I have not pursued this line very vigorously, but when I was in Stromness Cemetery in May this year, I found James and Mary Allan's headstone, which also had Isabella Strang commemorated on it. I have photographs of the memorial.
