Hi Marilyn I too find it difficult to understand. The John you show as the son of Magnus is unfortunately not my John Sinclair. They were born at around the same time according to the 1821 census. Given the naming routine, my John's father should be John also as he named his first son John, which would be after his sons grandfather, I think that is right.
