    3. Lisa, I have had a look at the entry for Jane Petrie and am fairly sure that the place is 'South Brecks'. Further, the 1881 census shows a David (33) and Margaret (32) Petrie with a gaggle, if five be a gaggle, of kids including a Jane aged 6, all staying at South Breck. 3. Hi Bruce (and Norman and Willie) -- I viewed the 1881 census for this family too (since I last emailed) and now I feel that the place meant for the 1874 birth register was indeed South Breck, Burray. And yet, Bruce, when I still look at the 1874 birth register entry, that one word sure looks like "Brooke" to me. When I look at W.T.N. Forbes' handwriting as a whole, Mr. Forbes portrayed his "-c's " a bit differently than what was shown in this instance.
