    1. [ORKNEY] HBC Abstracts of Servants accounts

    3. William, you mentioned the HBC servant records. Both my mother's father's father and my mother's father's mother's mother were Orcadians employed by HBC, he for a short time at York Factory, she as a servant in Fort Garry (approx 1848 to perhaps 1952 or 1853). Could you tell me how you accessed the HBC Abstracts of Servants accounts, please? I might have to break down and travel to Winnipeg some day to look at them, but if there's an easier way, I'd love to know. Winnipeg is about 1,500 miles away! Many thanks in advance, and happy new year!
