Not only are my Sinclair's not related to anyone but my Cromarty's Cloustons' and Guthrie's do not appear related to anyone either. Strange lot my ancestors. For anyone related to James Sinclair 28 Oct 1845 South Ronaldsay parents John Sinclair and Barbara Wishart I have the following James married a Mary Spence born abt 1856 Canada. James Sinclair was in the employ of the HBC from 9 November 1868 (HBCA A.32/53 fo. 163). According to the "Abstracts of Servants'" accounts, he was employed as a labourer in York Factory (district) until 1879 when it is noted that he returned to Europe. (In fact he returned to South Ronaldsay). He may have been at Fort Garry during parts of 1874-1876 and he was summer master at Severn post from 1876-1879 (HBCA B.239/g/46-49; B.235/g/1-7; B.239/u/3). He left South Ronaldsay and went to America in 1893. His son James went to America in 1891. Here he is in 1900 in the US James in the USA in 1900 Name: James Sinclair [James Sinclaire] Home in 1900: Chicago Ward 4, Cook, Illinois Age: 53 Birth Date: Aug 1847 Birthplace: Scotland Race: White Ethnicity: American Immigration Year: 1893 Relationship to head-of-house: Head Father's Birthplace: Scotland Mother's Birthplace: Scotland Marriage Year: 1870 Marital Status: Married Years Married: 30 Residence : Chicago City, Cook, Illinois Occupation: View Labourer Household Members: Name Age James Sinclair 53 James Sinclair 28 Katherine Sinclair 16 Malcolm Sinclair 14 Jessie Sinclair 11 I hope this is of use to someone.
