I see that today's edition of "The Scotsman" newspaper (published in Edinburgh but only available in detail online at a round £30 per year) also has a full obituary for Captain Work. He was born in Deerness and had a very eventful life, particularly in his war service, earning a DSC and two bars. He led a busy life in retirement in Orkney being Secretary of the Kirkwall branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute for many years, was involved with the Sea Cadets and was a keen golfer. Unfortunately I don't have much genealogical information for him but I am sure there will be details available out there somewhere. He died in Kirkwall on 10th January, 2006.
