Hi, I am a descendant of a Thomas Reid a Wood Turner (married a Catherine McGregor in Aberdeen) who was born in Orkney in 1830. He gives his island of birth in some of the Censuses as Shapinsay but the only Thomas matching his birth date was born to a John (?) and Elizabeth Reid in Papa Westray (is this on Shapinsay?).
