    3. Caroline I answered this question a couple of weeks ago, on this list, but I didn't save it and don't have the time to re-compose it right now. I gave all the details of the person after whom Andrew Smellie Tait was named. Please check back issues (or maybe someone who keeps a file will re-post it for me?). If all else fails, please contact me off-list and I will send the information to you. Will be going out of town to a NeGenWeb conference, so perhaps I can find more about this soon. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I'd like to propose Orkney, Nebraska, USA, for inclusion. At a buck each (how much is an aussy dollar?) we could buy it and give it to one of the Orkney museums or gen-groups that would scan it at a higher resolution and make it available to members. mjc Anne M. Keep in mind however, that 260.00 is the opening bid, it's a reserve auction so their minimum selling price is higher and is not disclosed also it's offered in US dollars. UK folks have a nice currency advantage to the US dollar. $260.00 = 161.070 GBP Sigurd - why doesn't the Orcadian buy it? <g> If there really are only 4 of these maps in existence it'd be nice to see it in Orkney or Shetland. And it would be nice to see a larger picture - a translation from the latin would be nice as well. At present there is plenty of room for information, and not much/any info posted at least at the Rendall center. You may want to search for your favorite surnames at Rootsweb http://www.rootsweb.com and look into adopting a resource page its a free way of having your own website/genealogy resource dedicated to your area(s) of interest.
