    1. [ORKNEY] SMITH/WAUGH
    2. Joanna Waugh
    3. I am researching the family of Mary Morin Waugh who married Thomas Smith a farmer of Ellsness, Sanday in 1847. Mary was a niece of John Anderson who was the minister of Lady Kirk. Mary and Thomas Smith had 5 children. On the youngest's entry in the register of births for 1855, it gives Thomas' birthplace as Killagarvin. Questions: Does anyone know where Killagarvin is? ( I don't see it in my maps of Scotland or in Gregor Lamb's Naggles o Piapittem) Does anyone recognize this family? Joanna Waugh Hamilton, Ontario Canada

    3. Lori You have told me your interest off-line, and I think you will find that Corsequoy ties in with your research into the Feas of Clestrain. Date: Thu, 16 Sep 1999 09:54:20 -0700 From: "Norman D. Nicol" <ndnicol@sonic.net> Subject: Re: [ORKNEY] Place Location - Corsikirk,, Sanday, ORK >Found a reference to a person born in Corsikirk, Isle of Sanday, Orkney. >Anyone know anything about this place? Dear Lori, I did not find any place on Sanday with the name *Corsikirk*. However, the closest to it is *Corsequoy* which I found on the modern Pathfinder Ordnance Survey map (Sanday North, Sheet HY 64/74). It is located near Broughtown and appears to be a farm overlooking the Bay of Brough. I did not find it on the O.S. map of 1895-96, however. If someone has ready access to Gregor Lamb's, <<Naggles o Piapittem - The Placenames of Sanday, Orkney>>. Byrgisey, 1992, perhaps he/she can look it up for you. My copy is packed up with the rest of my library pending my move from California to Pennsylvania in early October. 3. I have just recently discovered that my Catherine Linklater was the daughter of Thomas Linklater and Margaret Thomson of Stromness, Orkney. Catherine was born abt 1842 and married Alexander MIlne on the 26 Nov 1869 (I have their wedding certificate). I have a list of other children noted which includes a Thomas chr 31 Nov 1816, Ann, Margaret, William, Betsey, John, Alexander, Janet, Eliza, and Catherine (the youngest) This looks promising. 3. Hi Doris - This doesn't ring any bells, but then I know next to nothing about "my" Linklater, Isobel, born between 1796 and 1800 in Orphir parish. She married Hugh Petrie in 1832. It's possible that there is a relationship between Isobel and your Thomas (b. 1815) -- is she at all familiar to you? Sorry I can't be of help, but I'd appreciate hearing anything you might know about Isobel.
